You're welcome, Libby. I'm happy you're aware of them.
I also support Heifer (when I can) ...love what these folks are doing and the way they do it! The positive impact they have on whole communities is simply amazing! Thanks, Gail ;-)
It is the same organization, Heidi. I believe this is just the Jewish branch of it. Here's a cute 30-second video from actor Mark Feuerstein:
Thanks for donating to this worthy cause. "Give a man a fish ... teach a man to fish...."
That sounds like Heifers International.... a group my husband and I donate to regularly.
Mark Feuerstein and Ed Asner support Heifers for Hannukah, an organization that provides cattle, sheep, goats, chickens and other farm animals to impoverished people around the world. They can get four gallons of milk from one heifer to feed themselves and sell the remainder to people in their community. They are given the heifers upon a promise by the recipient to give the next female offspring to a member of the community. In Hebrew, it's called tikkun olum which, loosely translated, means pay it forward. The article in Oregon Jewish Life is very enlightening if you are interested in reading it. Here's a one-minute video of actors Ed Asner and Mark Feuerstein about the organization.
