Oak Leaves in Illinois

It might depend on how much iron is in the soil where you live lyndee.

Our oak is a pin oak. When it was young, it use to turn red but now it just turns to a rusty color, losing half of it's leaves in the fall and the other half in the spring. I've always wonder why some gets so much prettier than others.

You know, we have trees just like this and they never turn this color. They are green one day and then it freezes and they're brown or just gone off the tree. I wonder why that is, when they're just like your trees. Something to ponder.
