McLaren Vale is located 35 kms south of Adelaide boarded by the Gulf of St. Vincent and the Mount Lofty Ranges.

Notable for producing Shiraz, the grape is by far the most important variety for the region, accounting for about 50% of the total crush. The regions climatic diversity has helped producers successfully embrace Spanish and Italian varieties such as Fiano, Vermentino, Tempranillo, Mouvedre, Nero d’Avola, Aglianico, Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Zinfandel. With 74 cellar doors you’ll quickly find reasons come back to McLaren Vale time and time again.

The vineyards sit snuggly between the ocean and the ranges, rob, and it's such a pretty area and a popular one too - especially at the weekends when the cellar doors are open (for wine tastings).

I love the contrast between the green, curvy vines & the dry, bare hills chookie!!

Robbos and I grew up around this area, Gracie, and we often go back to see all the changes that've been made. Back then it was called 'country' but with all the vineyards and new home developments going up, it's joined up with the suburbs.
