This is a cup lichen (cladonia). Many of them have red cups but different names!

I'm afraid it's a plant that many would not see, it has a very quiet beauty in its own small way, but once you have seen it you'll see it whenever you meet it!! Thanks so very much Lela, glad you did!! Lichens are so very pretty and are very special organisms!
