"The camouflage that weedy sea dragons use to hide in the temperate marine vegetation they derive their name from is so successful that once they reach adulthood they have no natural predators. Unfortunately they are still at risk due to habitat destruction. The males of the species carry the bright pink, fertilized eggs underneath their tails for about two months before the fully formed young hatch and are left to fend for themselves"

Yeah, I was thinking the rays of light coming through a good portion of the blue would "take the curse off" of all that water. But, alas, they were not as pronounced in the puzzle pieces of course. But such a striking creature (and not so camouflaged when being a good dad)! Glad you enjoyed it, Dris.

Gawd, that was a lot of blue - I felt like I was building the Caribbean from scratch, thimble by thimble ;-) What a beautifully spectacular creature, with those golds and purples, never mind the eggs (what a Dad!). Great, great choice, even with all that water!

The photographer shot this and wrote the description for National Geographic. No surprise there, huh? And I'm glad you liked it, mcmtmig!

Very cool photo and info
