I went back a couple of times myself! God does do amazing things with the trees. Even in Winter they can be pretty!!

That is a big leaf indeed Chickie. I've seen these at the park before but never questioned as to why they were so big. Nice white tennies!

I just got out the ruler and I believe that leaf was close to 9" across. The English leaves are up to 6" across. I am thinking Burr Oak 5" -12" or Overcup Oak 5" - 10" across. The Overcup Oak specifically says for it's range: Southern Tip of Illinois. Thanks for taking the time to investigate morris.

Just looking at my book, do you have English oak by you? My first thought was a burr oak. But the book says that English leaves are small.
