Several Tarzan movies were filmed at Silver Springs and the Sea Hunt series on TV with Lloyd Bridges, some other movies as well. I think there have been some filmed at Weeki Wachee as well.

HI Gina. It is part of the state park system now, as is Silver Springs with the glass bottomed boats. I live about half way between the 2. We also have Juniper Springs and Alexander Springs in our area, so lots of places that we went to as kids. We had a cabin at Salt Springs. I posted a photo of that spring yesterday. Hope you will make it down here one day. I taught Science and fell in love with Crater Lake and Wizard Island, so made sure to visit them when I spent 3 months out west in 2009 when I retired. Going back for 2 months next summer, but doubt I'll be that far north.

Hi Sue49! Thank you for sharing this awesome photo! This is a neat coincidence, I was just looking on YouTube about Weeki Wachee, & the mermaid & underwater shows, & glass bottom boats, etc. I've wanted to visit FL & see these shows & sights, ever since I watched The Glass Bottom Boat (which I now have on DVD). ~ Hugs from Gina in Southern Oregon

Weeki Wachee Springs is now a state park with hiking, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, etc. It has manatees there along with some other Florida animals. And of course, the mermaids. There are now a lot of educational programs there as well. We used to go there occasionally. It was a couple of hours away. I took my granddaughter a couple of times and we had a nice day.
