Dondi, I don't think there's a lot of truly rational thinking behind a few of these crazy vehicles. Mostly, they're just great conversation pieces. That's all that counts to some folks. And, they seem to get a lot of satisfaction in the mere creation of these units. A personal sense of accomplishment can be a real high.
Kind of an odd tire test - and an expensive rig! Dual-axle front steering, for instance, and scuffing motion of the tires on the triple axle in the rear, since you can't get three axles to track turns. A pretty amazing vehicle anyway!
Thanks for the info, McD! It's always more interesting to know some details.
1972 Michelin truck tire test vehicle powered by 2 Chevy 350's. testing tires for 180 kmh!
BJ, what do you suppose is in the rear of this vehicle? It's about two car lengths long with no visible side door into the rear, no windows...is there a huge engine in there? Looks like a lot of air intake going into the space.
Do you see what happens when you cross imagination with a Citroen DS. I like !
