Thanks so much for this picture/puzzle. It brought back such wonderful memories for me. This is the first mountain I climbed; I climbed it with my family when I was 12. I climbed it again with my friends when I was in my early 20s. I was in such good shape that I felt like I just walked up the whole mountain. Then I climbed it again in my early 30s and practically had to crawl up the mountain.....it was amazing to see that my "good shape" had gone.........
Have hiked this fine mountain!!! :) In the summer it abounds with wild blueberries! As you drive into Keene, NH, you can see the summit of the mountain in the distance-a sign that you are getting closer to home. ☺
Thanks for that added information, Beekay. I think by now you'll know that I just love your part of the world, it is just SO beautiful, especially in your Fall season.
So pretty chookies!
This is a very popular mountain to hike Chookies. It is in the lower part of New Hampshire and is considered an easy hike. It's great for all ages and is a popular school class outing, or as in Sharon's experience...a camp outing. You chose a beautiful photo of it. Thank you Chookies!
...and thank you for sharing your wonderful memories with me, Sharon, I enjoyed reading your comments, it sounds as if they were wonderful days and I'm only too happy to have bought them flooding back to you. It was all my pleasure and thank you for dropping by.
I hiked up Mt Monadnock the summer of 1964. I was a 21 yr old Missouri girl working as a camp counselor at a Girl Scout camp in Ayer Mass. and we took our unit to NH for a campout and "mountain climbing" experience. It was beautiful. Thank you for sharing this picture. I nearly jumped out of my chair when I saw the name. I have so many wonderful memories from that summer. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Very pretty but glad I am inside today.
