I was so surprised when the buds appeared. Now I'm really excited to know I can grow them! Haha!

Thanks, photogent! I'm finding that out. I was surprised it even lived, and to have it bloom was a wonderful surprise! :)

Lovely orchid Nana and they are not that hard to grow unless you leave them outside in the winter.

Nanax4

You're welcome, Pat! :)

So beautiful thanks Nana

Nanax4

Thank you very much, Gene! :)

very beautiful orchid Dottie and great post :))))))

Nanax4

Thank you Laurajane and Chickie.
Sis, sounds like you gave yours a good dose of 'benign neglect' too! That must be what they need. Fertilizer is on my shopping list. Hope yours continues to do well, too!

texasstar7

Well, Sis, I've managed not to kill mine that I got about a year ago. It looks like it's having a node coming out on the side that could be a bloom, I hope. Ank (Puzzeljac) can tell you everything about them. I just bought some fertilizer (I bought the sticks that you just push into the soil) a few weeks ago but had only given it water up to that point. Those blooms last forever, once you get them to bloom. Good continued success to you! Thanks, beautiful plant.

Very pretty Dottie. You have a green thumb.

laurajane

Your orchid is really lovely, Nana! Such a soft pink color.

Thanks PamCal, smllpkg, lyndee and fodus.
PamCal, I've been guilty of that at times.
smllpkg, you could be on to something! :)
lyndee, I just watered it occasionally. Not sure why it grew so well.
fodus, they would be great as a corsage! :)

fodus

Wow! You could wear some as a corsage! Wouldn't that be stunning?

lyndee

Very pretty Nana. You must have a green thumb.

Maybe benign neglect is the key to your success. It's beautiful whatever you did or didn't do.

I think maybe I gave mine too much fertilizer.

Nanax4

Thanks, formersusan! I haven't fertilized it at all and I've had it almost a year. I will definitely get some orchid fertilizer! :)

formersusan

Good work! Weakly, weekly is one of the keys - very dilute fertilizer every week.......
