You sound like me, Nana33. I did have a Tiny Tears doll that I loved, but I busted her head open accidentally by playing catch with her. Ended up, another time, breaking my hip being thrown from a horse and having a hip replacement when I was 37 - youngest my MD had ever done. I loved the woods. We had a small wooded area near the house that I named "The Limberlost" after a Gene Stratton Porter book and we practically lived in there.
Snooker, I agree!!
We would have been best friends, loveydear! I had no use for dolls and such. My older sister was the prissy one. I put up a fuss if I had to wear a frilly dress...loved my jeans and sneakers. Ha! Still do, but I do get "dressed up" when necessary now.
I was a tom- boy too, I didn't mind climbing trees, rolling rocks over to find whatever might be under them,( found a salamander once), and ours was a river with beaver dams, snapping turtles and frogs, toads, water striders, not much fish that I can remember. We got to go on long hikes along the river when dad and mom would feel like taking us. It was an enjoyable time.
This is where millions of kids should be playing everyday - outside.
You are welcome, Gladstone. I have many good memories of those times, too. Thanks for your comment.
Y'all (that's Alabama for you all) are stirring up some very fond memories for me.
Me too, LJ! I was a tom-boy.
VermonMeow, I totally agree! It's just that I don't have any close to me to play in.
We also had a creek that run through our home quarter of land. Many memories from the adventures that happened many years ago. Thank you
Why should it be only for children, Nana? There is great magic, enjoyment and peace in these streams. Enough for all ages. Thanks for sharing.
I lived outside. Creeks, woods, ponds...you name it.
Those were fun days, weren't they loveydear?
I should have added...when I was a child! Ha!
Me too Nana33!
