Why are you reporting this puzzle?

My parents had a General Store in a little country village (Murringo - near Young, NSW - where I grew up) from 1949 to the mid-80's and these scales were in use until 1966 when Australia changed over to metric weights, measures & currency. The scales were made by IBM and had a 'Ready-reckoner' on the face to calculate the price of the goods weighed on them. When they sold the shop I claimed the scales!

Thanks Trish! You'll have to post a photo of yours - I'd like to see them - please Trish???!!! I don't think you stole them - after all you gave them a good home, rather than have them dumped (which is what would have happened to mine too)!!!

That is a dandy, Rob! i grabbed one from our old grocery in this tiny town when they were switching over in the 80s to digital. i am afraid i stole it for $40. It is not nearly as charming as yours with the bowl, but more 50s than yours, white enamel. It's a Toledo. i used it to weigh chemicals in my little winery-ette, and grapes in vnyd experiments. love the black tile in your kitchen. thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mary - my pleasure!

LOL! That's good Warbler - 'cause you'd be wasting it :)))) Thanks !!!

And it probably works as good as it did the day it was made.

LOL! Thanks Neville! You sure don't see them like this nowadays! I have them in the corner of my kitchen bench-top.
