grdmaCarman, what an excellent tip. thank you and thank you for doing my puzzle

If you buy any cloth item new and never want the color to dim or fade, then put it immediately into a vinegar and water solution. Do this before you wear or use the cloth, preferably right away when you get it home. Vinegar will 'set' the color so that it will not fade. Think of how food items that have vinegar cause such permanent stains on clothes. It will cause the color to remain much more vibrant and fade much less. You only have to let it soak for about 10 minutes, rinse, and dry in any manner that you normally would. When I began to learn to sew my own clothes, and I wanted the beautiful colors and patterns to remain so new looking, it was the very first thing I would do when bringing home any new material. I saw it keep it's colors like new for years.
