We lost another legend yesterday. I usually don't even like C/W music, but I loved his. What a colorful and wonderful person! I'll miss him. He stopped loving us today!

Thanks, Dondi, sounds like you're a devoted fan. I loved his music too.

Yes, thanks for posting this. George was one of a kind, and, in my opinion, ranked among the all-time greatest country singers. He wasn't afraid to take on anything ("I'm a People"?), and when he sang a song, the presentation was so unique that you can't conceive of doing it any other way (a particular problem when I want to perform one of his songs - how do you not sound like a GJ wannabe?). When songs like "The Grand Tour" come up when I'm playing my iTunes collection, I just stop and listen (sometimes multiple times) - anything else would be sacrilege.

Thank you, Hanne and Morris. I've seen this guy in concert so many times, and just loved him. Friends couldn't believe it because I'm a hard rock freak and do NOT like most country music! He was one of the greatest, and lived hard. Surprised he made it to be 82. My Dad used to say "Only the good die young!" And like a smartalec, I'd say "Is that why you're so old?"

Thanks, Colin. You're right, glad we have his music to live on.

ts, thanks for this. You're dead on: he is a legend and he shared his talent with a host of younger singers right up to the end. He had a huge influence on C/W music, a legacy that will live on.
