I can also see why you thought of Franz Marc, Leanne. Especially with the horses.

I also thought of Alice Bailly when I first saw it, but I am happy that the subjects are a bit easier to discern.

From the thumbnail I thought this might be a Franz Marc painting. The shading and roundness of the animals is similar.

This reminds me of Alice Bailly's style with much darker colors, and a bit more clearly defined beings than in some of hers. But still . . . .
