Jacki, the first time I saw them, there were 7. The third or fourth time I only saw 6. Every time I've seen them since I have been able to count 6. But mostly I've seen them while they were near the shore and in places where the seventh could be present, but hiding behind a thick patch of reeds. I keep hoping to be able to count seven with assurance, but it begins to look like they did lose one.
It's hard to tell exactly how many there are as some have their heads down in the water searching out just the right seaweeds to munch on. I think I see 3 tails plus two bodies with heads down on the left and one more between the two adults.
