Hey there Tex, maybe the woodpeckers would like you to have more bug infested trees. ;) i don't see many of them down here. gotta keep looking. can't tell you about feeders, don't have one. the birds flock to my pecan remnants all over the yard. Say, that is a lovely bonnet you're wearing ma'am!
Trish~I know they're here, I see them at the lake all the time. They just don't come to my feeder, and neither does any other ones! Don't know what I'm doing wrong...
At least he's behaving and pecking a tree! We had one continually after our siding. Nothing worked, until we hung a 6' windsock at the corner he liked. He hasn't been back!
i had a hard time deciding but i think this is a ladderback woodpecker male. if that is true, then we should be able to see them in our neck of the woods Mz Tex! mexico to colorado and west to CA and Baja. he looks like a very happy camper. thanks Celeste! http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/851/_/Ladder-backed_Woodpecker.aspx
