Oh dear, now you've set me thinking! Perhaps paint silver scrollwork on it? With an eye of Horus on a padded pillow? Mmm.... wanders away mumbling... :-)
Quite possibly, quite possibly. In college, I participated in a few archaeologic excavations. I was always amazed in some of the artifacts, especially pottery, which were simple in design but almost looked like art deco in the way they were decorated. I sure would love it if you would embellish your score gift cover, photograph it, then make a puzzle out of it. I would be a happy camper, indeed!
Swish 5 branch variety! Isn't this a joy to see. We needed candlesticks in days gone by but they didn't have to be plain and utilitarian, did they? I love how over the years we have added decorative aesthetically pleasing adornments to everyday objects. Do you think future archaeologists will find embellished iPad covers? :-)
It looks good in my 106 year old house, but I can see how it wouldn't fit in a more modern home. Sometimes I think my house and contents serve as a genealogic timetable, lol!
I think it is quite old. That is wheat with tassels comming off it. I was disappointed at how small this turned out.... May repost larger to show detail. You are most welcome, my friend!
Very ornate, and old looking!! Great detail with the grape leaves, but at the top candle on each side is that wheat? and the bent wire looking things? Can't get close enough to see ot. Thanks for showing this antique! :)
