Hi pumpkinhead. Yes, they are. I love molasses candy!
Hi Ank. Yes, this evening just after sunset. It is the eve of (the evening before) All Saints Day (All Hallows). So it was called All Hallow's Eve. And that became Halloween.
Thanks for explaining Cathy, and I understand this happens today.
Hi Ank. Thanks for telling me about St Maarten. I had not heard that. Yes, the children wear a costume. It doesn't have to be spooky, it is often a cute animal or a cartoon or TV character. They don't sing. They just knock on the door and when you open it they say, "Trick or treat". So we put wrapped candies into their bags. Later their parents check through the candies to make sure everything is safe before the kids eat it. Adults often have costume parties too.
Ah the children come to you door. We have also something like that. Nov.11 St Maarten. They wearing a light and sing a song and then you give candy. I understand the children come to you like spookies, do they also sing?
Hi JC. I totally agree with you. I also hate to see candy go bad. So when I buy Halloween treats I always buy the kind I like ... just in case I have to eat it.
Thanks for your comment, goingsilver. Yes, I bought a lot ! I like to be prepared. :)
Sounds like you have enough to feed an army cevas so I hope the spooky visitors do indeed come knocking on your door!
Cevas, we don't get trick or treaters this far out in the country. Probably just as well. I've eaten most of the candy all ready. What? I don't want it to go bad!
Hi Gladstone. You are welcome! I hope I get some spooky little visitors this year. Kids don't usually do apartment buildings but there are some living in this building so they might knock on my door.
Thank you, I have one or two.
Hi mariolyn. Yes, that's good too ! Oh, and I bought a box of 40 individually wrapped crispy rice marshmallow squares.
I always liked candy corn too.
Sorry lyndee, just kisses or lollipops!
Halloween kisses or molasses kisses - a very old fashioned treat for kids of all ages.
Got any dark chocolate in there cevas?
