That's what I had heard, too--back operations are so useless and make it worse--which is why I suffered and struggled with the other options at first. But when they didn't help, and when the MRI and CAT scan showed that the disc was pressing on the nerve and it wasn't just an inflammation, I decided to bite the bullet. My doctor had operated on my husband (on his skull), and we knew he was an excellent surgeon, and I was in so much constant pain, that I took the risk. It worked very, very well--the intense pain was gone right away, and the aches I get now, especially if I walk too much or climb too many stairs and so on, are nothing compared to what I had before. I still have the weakness in my leg from the nerve having been pinched, so the knee gives out sometimes if I try to take the stairs one foot per step, instead of 2, but that's not a result of the operation. So I would have to say I am VERY happy I had it done--and I've since spoken to others, especially his patients, who are just as satisfied with the results. I wonder if it's because we didn't have "lower back pain", which is what most people have the op for--I had no back pain at all, actually; it was in my upper leg, although it was caused by a problem in my back--and that's why we had above-average results. Maybe actual back pain is less amenable to a surgery solution....
My heart goes out you Heidi. My ex husband of 26 years had problems of sleeping in the right bed too. My heat was was broken. I thought this handsome charismatic man was my soul mate. Fortunately 4 months after he left me I met my present husband who treats me like a princess. No woman could ask for more. You seem like a strong woman. You will be OK.
Oh, I think husband-related problems can be just as bad, if not worse--and there's no hour-long operation that will cure them...... I'm about 90% recovered now--occasional pain and weakness, but I'm building the strength back daily. Marital or family problems are harder to fix, and emotional pain can be even more devastating than physical pain....
On July 23, I started to feel pain in my upper left leg. By Monday I was in the ER, and then in the hospital for 4 days. After a couple of pain-filled months, trying injections in my back, acupuncture, and PT, I finally opted for back surgery, which involved taking out some of the bone in a disc that what pressing on my nerve. I didn't need politics to make this a highly forgettable year.....
Yep. I lost several good friends.... discovered my husband of 37 years has been cheating on me for most of them.... and am going through an unpleasant divorce now. None of that is political.
pignut, I saw nothing political in this. You are right and mycat is wrong. This has been a rough year for many reasons and I for one am looking forward to a better one. Thank you.
mycat this puzzle was not meant to be political. If you are trying to start something go somewhere else. Trump has nothing to do with how my year went.
