Jigidi 3 years! |
30. January 2010 |
Three days ago Jigidi turned three. I almost missed it being too busy doing other things. I'm happy to see that some of you didn't. Take a look at the creations celebrating the day.
Last year I wrote that more than 3000 people where visiting Jigidi every day. Today the number is close to 5500. No matter when you visit Jigidi there will be at least 100 people putting pieces together. Even in the middle of the night.
Thank you for being here. I hope you're enjoying yourself.

This morning Jigidi was upgraded to a bigger, better and faster server. With twice the memory, twice the diskspace and twice the cpu-power.

Update to the 4-puzzles-a-day-rule |
11. January 2010 |
Long ago a limitation of 4 public puzzle within 24 hours was made to secure a variation of puzzles. Due to the number of users circumventing this rule by using multiple profiles, it has now been updated to check against IP address as well as username.

Birthday! |
27. January 2009 |
Today Jigidi celebrates its second birthday. The site was launched on the 27th of January 2007 and the first few months only a couple of users were solving puzzles. Now, after two years of life, more than 3000 different persons from all over the world are using Jigidi every day.
I wish to thank all of you for making Jigidi such a great place.
Thank you for all the birthday puzzles. You can find them here.
Have fun!

Troubles ... |
25. August 2008 |
I have just received an email from my webhotel provider. They will close my account in 30 days because Jigidi is using too many resources on their servers. I have expected this would happen one day.
Hopefully this will not have any influence on the quality of your time spent with Jigidi, but I will be using less time to maintain Jigidi and answer emails while I am searching for a new location. Some day (before 20/9) Jigidi will be down for a day or two while I move the site to a new server.

Community forum |
25. August 2008 |
I have noticed that some of you are communicating with each other (using the titles of the puzzles) and asking for a forum or blog. I enjoy seeing this development and making a forum has crossed my mind. I haven't done it so far because it would be too ressourceful to maintain (there are many ways to abuse a forum).
Until I figure out a way to implement this on Jigidi, I will recommend you all to use this Yahoo group created by deb7019

Plans |
14. June 2008 |
This "News" section is introduced by letting you know, that Jigidi is going to change.
Personal profiles
First of all the way of handling bookmarks and progress will be changed. At the moment you cannot start a puzzle on one computer and continue on an other. Your bookmarks are associated to your computer, not to you as a person. This will change.
When this first update is complete, you will need to create a personal profile and sign in to Jigidi. This will give you the option to keep your bookmarks when you use an other computer.
Hopefully this will be done within the next couple of weeks.
New design
A new design is on its way. Jigidi hasn't changed visually since it was launched in January 2007, otherwise it has changed a lot. Now it is time for the design to catch up: Improved usability and a new look. It will be very different but you will get a chance to se it before it is implemented.
Jigidi is growing. This is good - but it is also more resourcefull to maintain. For some time now, an audio ad has been played once in a while when a puzzle is loaded. This is because Pay Per Play advertisement has been chosen as a way to finance Jigidi.
Pay Per Play is in the test phase. When this is over, a five second audio ad will be played every time a puzzle is loading.
This may be a nuisance, but I hope you will accept it as a way to keep Jigidi free of charge.
Have fun,
Magnus Jacobi
